No Surprise

song pairing for this post: Goldfinger
The world has a funny way of reminding me of people in my heart.
Case in point, a recent visit to one of my fave San Francisco spots, MOMA.
( I have become a little nutty for art museums )
I think it's the surprise factor and
it's no surprise that I love surprises
( you know the interesting and beautiful kind, not spider in the bathtub kind ).

Every turn of every corner yields a wonderland of absolutely crazy beautiful, strange and fascinating things.
& stuff like that just floats my boat !

So, at the turn of this particular corner,  something stopped me in my tracks.
It was a larger than life, Jeff Koons gilded porcelain sculpture of Michael Jackson and his monkey friend Bubbles

Even though it reminds me of some giant tchotchke
from my grandmother's house,
 the wonderful thing was
It brought a friend to mind
I instantly laughed and blurted out her name.
(  it was gold and she loves MJ ! )
and I know she would have gotten a kick out of it
( great job Jeff ! )

........................................

Then,  I go upstairs to the rooftop
Blue Bottle Cafe
to see what beautiful art inspired desserts
they had .... and  there it was
The
"Jeff Koons White Hot Chocolate"
with cardamom, lemon zest and gilded lillet marshmallows

Again, I exclaimed
"OMG ! That is SO _______ !!!"
( she's a total sweet tooth  )

isn't this lovely ?

So who is she ???
more hints ...
She lives in the city she loves, San Francisco.
She  has an online boutique bursting with the most
amazing array of incredibly glamorous
antiques around.

Has been in several publications including this one ( and yes, this issue !) ...

We first met 11 yrs ago, during "The Ebay Days"
when my painting mentor, Georgia Hanson, and I were selling paintings and signs.  It was a brand new concept of painting for an online audience, and to have her as a customer?
Well I have to say, we were thrilled

The cool thing about her is she has so much reason to have a huge ego,
but is instead, the nicest, down to earth person you can find

Who is she  ?

It is,
 none other than
Lynn Goldfinger
of the
Paris Hotel Boutique !

Tell me ....
What unexpected & unique things remind YOU of a certain friend ?

I would love to know !!!

xoxo,
lisa

Truly people such as Lynne who like you said have every reason to harbor a huge ego and do not, are the people that you want to be near. Such a fun post Lisa. That drink is out of this world & I'm sure Lynne will be touched you thought of her is such glowing terms. The silliest of things make me think of dear friends. Cheez Whiz, cheap wine, music and laughter come immediately to mind.
Have a tremendous day tomorrow xx

Lisa, you're SOOOO sweet! Seriously, when I was reading the post I'm saying to myself, "oh no...it can't be...then the magazine...SF...MJ...and the drink..."

Thank you so much for such a sweet and flattering post. I am really at a loss for words, and that's not like me, lol! Thanks to Terri, Cathi, Noelie and Dumbwit for guessing too. You guys are all AWESOME!

Lisa, I must go have that white chocolate drink at the Blue Bottle Cafe. Sad to say I haven't even been to the MOMA!! And to see the MJ funky statue.

Thanks again for the sweet, sweet post and for thinking of me!
