Distracted By Shiny Things

Of all the finishes and colors
it is silver that I resonate with the most
Why ?
Maybe because of it's chameleon ways
of reflecting back the beauty of any room
No matter what the color scheme,
it always fits in.

So just for fun, I paid a visit to one of my favorite fantasy shopping sites
and typed silver in the search box

Here's what caught my eye ...

a set of 19th century English food domes
( even top ramen would be glamorous under these ! )

Italian grotto style chairs from the 1930's
and 20th century French floor lamps

Austrian art deco tea set from 1935
20th century French table lamps
silvered lavender silk French armchairs from the 1940's
Although I like things on the glam side
It's hard for me to think of any space that couldn't use a little
shine and polish here and there

What do you think ?

Black Is The New Black

For your listening enjoyment this is "Back To Black" by Amy Winehouse
I've been thinking
Through the years we have heard style commentators proclaiming
something other than black as
"the new black"
BUT
in my humble yet shameless opinion
there is NO replacement for black
( sorry I'm not sorry ! )

Anyone else with me on this ?

October approaching has put me in a
wonderful, dark & moody mood
So I did a little fantasy shopping on 1st dibs
I simply typed "black" in the search box

And oh,
what magic I did find !!!

Here are my fun picks

A Beetle juicy canape sofa...
 An English sporting trunk ...

19th century Swedish napkin rings ...
a pair of English 2 seater sofas ...

 A dream in 1930's black Goyard ( biting my hand ! ) ...
And a Mario Fortuny early 20th century stage lamp ...

Can't ever say I'm
back in black
because, my dears,
I never left !
( one peek into my closet and you would understand ! )

Ok, so I have said my peace

Good Dibs

If you could buy anything you want today
what would it be ???

Here would be just a few of my splurges
( all currently on 1st Dibs )

an antique men's french collar display
an antique carnival photo scope ...
a gum dispenser ( no home should be without ! )

carnival mirrors from 1900 ...
what the heck, while I'm at it let's throw in some antique clown shoes !

Of course, you know I'm just getting warmed up !

What do you have your eye on right now ?

Happy Memorial Weekend !
