Soulful Elegance In Austin ... My Dream Home Tour

Remember this ?
About a year ago when posting about my move to Austin,
I used this picture as a representation of what I imagined
a dreamy slice of Austin life to look like ...

No idea where in Austin this place was, or honestly if was even a home.
But the contrast of the industrial looking exterior
and teasing glimpse of chandeliered opulance behind the sliding barn door
was enough for me to do some big time swooning.

But little did I know, that was just the beginning -
By pure happenstance, I just recently stumbled on the property and found out
not only is it downtown, it IS a home with a retail space
it's for sale
( just 4 million + )
and has a history.

Keep scrolling ... wait til you see the inside !

The building dates back to 1890 and was formerly the
Protection Hook and Ladder Company No. 3,
prior to becoming the legendary Capitol Saddlery.

Here's the retail space ...
( oh, how I would love to open a Lisa Golightly brick and morter shop here ! )

just a short commute up the original freight elevator and you're home

Ready for the tour ?

The living room ...

The kitchen ...

Imagine washing the dishes with a clear view of all the state capital happenings

The master bath and bedroom ...

office ...
( gotta pay that massive mortgage payment somewhere ! )

now THIS is a mudroom ! ...

entertainment area ...

Maybe this home isn't everyone's cup of tea
but it's soulful venetian elegance
resonates so much to me.

Until I can figure out what I could sell on Ebay for 4 million,

I am left to my dreams
( and that's not a bad place to be )

Ciao !

XO

What a fabulous tour Lisa! Just love this kind of work/home space. Can you get 4 million people to give you a dollar each? It says you. XO

I saw this last year and was as awestruck. Too much yum all in one place. How about working toward a timeshare idea! I'd pitch in!

Woah! Seeing those photos made me feel the magical pull of history and the mystery that surround that house. I can’t blame you for wanting it. But anyway, don’t lose heart. I know you’ll find a way in acquiring your dream house. How about making it an inspiration to look for another home that comes close to it?

I agree with you. Palazzo Lavaca is one place that I wish
to visit. Its elegant ambiance is what I’m looking forward to experience. I
also want to learn more about its history. I read some facts and can’t believe
that it was a firehouse before. Very interesting, isn’t it :) Modern and
ancient designs complement any kind of room. I’m glad that it’s well-maintained
until now, and I hope it lasts for a long time.

Everyone can dream! It’s free! Kidding aside, I was stunned by the “mystery” that surrounds the house. Everything looks so magical: the unique designs, the ideas, what else can you ask for? Anyway, you can keep on dreaming just be sure to do something to be able to reach your dreams.

“Maybe this home isn't everyone's cup of tea but it's soulful venetian elegance resonates so much to me…” – It’s the same for me, too. In fact, this house is breathtaking! Looking at the exterior, you wouldn’t suspect that there is a beautiful abode inside. Every corner breathes eclectic taste, which I love.
