Let's Dish About Summer

Bonjour
&

H
aPp
Y WeekeNd !

Time for a little shameless showing and telling
fr
om the
House of
Golightly

I can always tell when June is approaching here in no Cal just by the state of our garden. And just like clockwork, the 1st cherries and berries have burst onto the scene ... and to pop them in your mouth when they're still warm from the sun ( ohh yes ! ) I think my favorite thing however, is the intoxicating smell of gardenias outside my window ( which I can't resist wearing in my hair ). Such a beautiful reunion for the senses. Blend all that with the anticipation of homework-less evenings and lingering dinners alfresco ... it's no wonder I'm so ... well ... GIDDY ! ( I know, my Doris Day is showing )
Am I the only one feeling this way ?
What's happening in your part of the country ?

Anyway, been having a lot of fun altering vintage images and decoupaging them to clear glass dishes. The whole process just opens up a whole new realm of possibilities ! So here I am doing custom and I'm loving it. So fun meeting customers, collaborating ideas and then creating something they are thrilled with.

So marking a new season, here's a few new things ... some on Etsy and some sold as orders.

Bonne Chance 8" x 8"

Seek Love 8" x 8"

Marilyn Monroe letter 4" x 6"

You are the Best 6" x 10"

This week's fave custom pieces ...

Thanks for the Mention !

I was checking some of my favorite blogs today ( much more fun than doing desperately needed yardwork in 105 degree weather ... ick ). So glad I did, because I stumbled upon pictures of my pillows in the beautiful home of blogging friend Melaine, at My Sweet Savannah ! Melaine was also the winner of my last giveaway.

I absolutely adore seeing where all of my things wind up in your homes. I admit that I get a little sad when I have to pack things up for shipping ... and I wonder about the person receiving it and how exactly it will be used in thier home ( am I the only one here that thinks this way ? ) If you have any pictures to share ... send them over I would love to see ! ( and maybe post it on here with your permission ? )

Melaine also has some lovely things in her Etsy shop .

Hope all of you had a wonderful summery weekend !

Chair y Tale Makeover

Once upon a time,
there were 2 very happy and loved chairs. Very stylish people in madras pants and maxi dresses loved sitting in them while listening to their Paul Anka records.
Then one day, they had no one to love them.
After many years banished to an attic, somebody found the forgetten pair and put them up for sale on Craig's List.
Because of their color, people were frightened.
And they sat, forgotten and unwanted for a very long time into the abyss ...

But then one day a lovely maiden
*** ok, no more narration ***

I thought they were pretty cool and deserved all my love.
For 100.00, I got to do just that.
The original plan was to do a re upholstery job, but when I got them in my hands, I thought, "the velvet's too perfectly beautiful ... why rip it all off just yet ?

Here's where I decided to try something a little unorthodox
( what did I have to lose ? ) ...

For the cost of two bottles of bleach, 2 cans of spray paint and a roll of c a r e f u l l y applied tape,

THIS is what happened ...

We are living SO happliy ever after !

Valentino The Last Emperor

After a very hectic past few weeks of travel and shows, I treated myself to a movie last night. Wow ... you simply must see this movie. Very touching, tender, funny and most of all breathtakingly beautiful

As you can see the movie ad poster, it was inspired by
the original Rene Gruau print ...

( but in VALENTINO RED of course ! )
