Oh Daddy !!

Won't you please
take a trip with me to
Cape Town So
uth Africa ?

There is the sweetest boutique hotel called
The Grand Daddy Hotel

and it has a little surprise ....

and it's not the sunshiny chic bar, Cool Daddy

or the

lovely Showroom Cafe

there's something more
gleaming and glamorous
take the vintage elevator up 3 floors and out to the rooftop exit
and enter
the

Airstream Penthouse
~Trailer Park~

Love how everyone gets thier own little post box !

And on warm nights they show outdoor movies at the Pink Flamingo Cinema
(you know I love that !)

Each of the 7 airstreams have been conceptualized
and designed by 7 local artists

"Dorothy" by Sarah Pratt
my personal favorite ...

"For the Love of Lace" by Tracy Lynch ...

"Afro-Funk" by Carla Soudien
...

Love the little notes on the wall in the
"Goldilocks and the 3 Bears" trailer by
Mark and Joe Stead

You can visit the website here

And THANK YOU to
The Summer Kitchen Girls
for telling me about this hotel in the last post's comments !
Their dad and br
other, "The Ruth Bros"
restored and delivered
these beautiful airstreams
( I wonder if they have a website ? )

just in .... they do !!
check out what they've done here

*Uh, oh, I looked and found mine*
Now I'm dreaming of doing this baby UP on the inside

I'd park it on the beach

put up a b/w striped awning and roll out the seagrass rug

and invite all the good people in my life
for a
sunset bonfire

the image of a magical evening reflecting right back at you
( this seriously needs to happen people )

I believe it's called "land yachting"

would you come to my party ?

Plugging Along ...

Lots coming ahead this July at the House of Golightly ...

Some of you know I have signed with a company that will be publishing and sublicensing my artwork for chain stores and online retailers. My 1st collection finally hits the mass market along with a new website this July and will been seen in stores by Fall ! Busy designing a 2nd collection due at the end of July and due out for market in January '10 .
I'm so excited I can barely stand it !
As soon as I have pictures I will be posting here.
( cross my heart and kiss my elbow !)

Also in the beginning of the month, I will be temporarily closing my Etsy shop in order to do some remodeling. The plan is to expand the wholesale collection
and change out the retail inventory.
If you have your eye on something, this is a great time to make a stop at the shop
since many of them will not be available
at a retail level any longer.

Not to worry though , the new shop will reopen in short time with all new Golightly goodness !

A few of the new pillows for the wholesale catalog ...

Feathered & Moonwalking Down Memory Lane

Scrolling through my picture library yesterday, I found this picture ironically titled "Farrahlives.jpg"
I forgot all about this old picture of me ala summer of '79 !
I was in middle school.
The days of
Bonnie Bell Lip Smacker ( strawberry )
Dittos and liking boys
Farrah influenced all of us who were coming of age
I don't remember a girl who wasn't feathered
or a boy who didn't want or have the poster !

Then Michael ...
shocking and incredibly sad news about another huge influencer of that time.
Did you know at the height of his career 1 in 10 americans owned one of his records ?
That is staggering.
Friday nights under the disco ball at the Aloha Roller Rink,
The middle and high school dances ...
Billie Jean, Thriller, Rock With You, PYT ....
The soundtrack of my youth.

Thank you for the wonderful memories

They are very much alive and well in me !

Just Adoring ... Domergue

I just recently stumbled upon some
exquisite portraiture and illustrations
by Jean-Gabriel Domergue
(French 1889 - 1962 )

He coined himself " the first pinup artist"

Only the most privelaged women in society could afford to commission a portrait ...

Madame O'Deril 1930

Mrs. Heathcote

Woman With Greyhounds 1930

An Aqualicious Day

I woke up this morning
only to find myself

dreaming
in aqua

TODAY IS ...

a day when my old absinthe fountain
becomes
a
mouthwash fountain

( just applied a french label then mixed both clear and turquoise mouthwash to get the perfect shade )

a day for beautiful handmade vintage number books from
Fanciful Designs

a day when stilettos and inflatable pool toys
just
work

a day for an antique french monogrammed plate from
French Blue and Co

A day that I buzz about town on this ...

A day of velvet ribbon in every watery shade imaginable at Britex in SF

photos by lisa golightly

A day for a deliciously drippy opaline chandelier from
Paris Hotel Boutique

Today is a day for so many more dreamy things
like this bit of news

I may not ever want to go to sleep

Eloquence furniture also coming soon to the
The Paris Apartment

watching a movie under the stars !

*sigh*

M
aybe a girls night floating in the pool watching
To Catch a Thief

with something fruity in hand ?
( you thought I was going to say Breakfast at Tiffany's didn't you ? )

Or, a candle lit picnic of
Pillow Talk
for date night ?

How romantic would that be ?

What would you show ?

I'm sensing a Cary Grant theme here
( how did
that happen ? )
