Looking Up After All

4' tall marquee arrow available at lisagolightly.com

It's been crazy week trying to get those ideas from my head actually executed into real life pieces for the Nov 1st Alameda Antiques Show. Then finding out this week that the show might be canceled !

Good news ... it's on and we will be there
( I leave in a couple hours so I think it's safe to say )

Cest Si Bon ( It's So Good ) 3' x 4' marquee sign available at lisagolightly.com

No spaces have been assigned as they usually are, I won't know until I get there. I will do my best to get online in the morning and let everyone know.
If not ... look for the lit up marquee signs !

I would love to see you
If not, look for the new goodies
on my site next week

Off the get a couple hours of sleep ...zzz

XOXO

Lisa

The Mysterious Mr. Head

I recently purchased this
and have to ask
has anyone seen anything like it ?

It's apparently a bust of JFK
and is literally made out of hundreds of layers of
white cardboard ( like posterboard ).

I'm sure it wasn't recently made
( not laser cut I'm sure )
&
after close examination
you can see that each and every piece has an
outline in black pen or paint
and was glued together after the pieces were cut out and traced.

How did they do this ?

It baffles me

I originally purchased it to resell
but I wouldn't even know where to begin describing it !

Any thoughts ????

MOMA part II ... Oh Sweet Art !

Mondrian inspired cakes are baked daily

A different kind of sensory overload awaits
high atop the SF MOMA

at the most recently added

rooftop sculpture garden

a lovely place high above the city
under a beautiful rolling sky

CANITGET
ANYBETTER?
yes it can

Check out the amazing art inspired goodies by pastry chef,
Caitlin Williams Freeman

Her desserts pay homage to the art below
and gives visitors a new way to appreciate it

She is often is seen walking around the museum with a sketchbook in hand
looking for her next inspiration ...

( sample page from the sketchbook - I like how this woman thinks ! )

So, if you saw Katharina Fritsch's poodles and Jesus installation,
"Kind mit Pudeln"

Would you be in the mood for a poodle ice cream sandwich & cappuccino ?

How about Richard Avedon's haunting portrait,
"The Beekeeper"

does it make you jonesy for the "beekeeper petit-four" ?

One of my favorite paintings Wayne Theibald's "Display Cakes"

Comes to life. Sweet dreams ARE made of this !

So, if you are in the SF Bay area ...
this is a great stop
And a great place for blogging friends to meet ?!

( wink wink )

Have a delicious weekend !

On With The Shows

Had a blast at both my first Alameda point Show as a vendor and
at last Sunday's semi annual Pleasanton Show.

Both great days filled with
Free hee heeeezing dark mornings

massive amounts of coffee

old friends

and many new cool ones !

Beautiful

I really wish I took more pictures but here are just a few ...

freshly painted "vintage" portraits & decoupaged trays ...

repurposed ashtrays into ring dishes, doggie bowls ...
ribbons and loving cups from the early 1900's - the 1960's

well ... I totally addicted
and am creating and gathering like mad for the

Nov 1st Alameda
( that's right, the day after Halloween ! )

This time I'll be more prepared for a more stylish 4am entrance ? ((yeah right !))

Where o Where

Has Lisa been ?

So sorry everyone for my big vast gap in posts. Had way too much on my plate the last few weeks, and a few things, including blogging had to go on the backburner.

So here I am coming up for a little air, and saying ....

Hi !

and announcing that after Sunday,

I will no longer be
an Alameda vendor virgin

Yes, this Oct 4th will be
my very first
Alameda Antiques and Collectables Show
6am - 3pm at Alameda Point
( I'll be in touch with the exact booth location )

If you are in the Bay Area and love antiques, you already know what this is.
Everyone else, it's one of the best outdoor markets that's held every first Sun of ea month.
Over 800 vendors and it's attended by over 10,000 people !
ok, I'm a little nervous now, you will be gentle won't you ?

Here's a little sneaky peek for you ...

There will be some paintings ...

decoupaged goodies ...

Furniture ...

an antique champagne riddler from France ... horse show ribbons ...
a princess 300 typewriter ... etc etc etc etc etc

Come say hi if you can !
