Kleinfelds Window Stories

It's no surprise why my 1st career was
as a visual merchandiser for Macy's.
Put me in from of a beautiful window display
and I'm suddenly a 6ft tall little redheaded girl
face pressed to a steamed glass staring
&
mesmerized by the stories they tell.

So when I ran across these windows for the famous
Kleinfelds Bridal in NY
my heart palpitated
Have you heard of the show "Say Yes To The Dress" ?
This is the store

( why don't they include these window displays in the show ? )
This is magic worth sharing !

Love these little miniature workers getting this couple ready for the big day ...

Here's another sweet story come to life
( love all the clever cakes ! )

*swoon !*
Hope you enjoyed these as much as me.

XO,
Lisa

Mental Tango

song pairing:  Tango in Harlem by Touch and Go

Just a quick hello and update from the House of Golightly
We are busy preparing the finishing touches for another print collection,
prepping for this Sunday's Alameda,
(and sadly, learning my mother has been diagnosed with cancer)
Waiting for more test results and working on deadlines
has my mind whirling and twirling
( and not in the most effective way )

I'm dreaming about transporting to NYC
for just one Tango
A mini mental vacay on a warm summer evening
in Central Park is just what I need to clear some clutter

Tango in Central Park really does take place
and right now, that sounds so divine !

I stumbled upon this NYC tradition last time I was there
Every Saturday there are free Tango lessons
at the William Shakespeare statue

It does a heart good to see people
from all walks of life, age and abilities
setting aside life's distractions
forgetting their troubles
&
losing themselves to the music.
I am sure they go back to life's daily grind with a fresh perspective

it's a very sweet and poetic sight

Ok. ( click click click ) Time for me to wake up and get back to it !

For now, I  bid you adieu

~ Thank you for the dance ~

Until next time,
I wish you a music filled twirly Monday !
& If I'm not back soon, send someone to find me ! ;)

Ciao !

Staple portrait by Timothy Paul Meyers

I am absolutely enamoured by the artwork of
Timothy Paul Meyers !
Check out this portrait he did for the Mother's Day windows at Tory Burch store in NY !
This is a portrait of Tory's mother
and it is made entirely of
STAPLES !!!

Check out this video to watch him create this amazing piece.
( check out how many times the hour hand spins ! )
** no need to stop blog music for this one**

Something so ingenuous and beautiful
coming from something as mundane
as a staple makes me swoon !

Weekend Of The Century

... inspired by Truman Capote's "Black and White Ball" held at the Plaza Hotel in NY
after the debut of his best selling novel released in 1958
Breakfast At Tiffany's

Many of the NY socialites close to him
were abuzz
thinking possibly it could be one of them that was the muse for his character
Holly Golightly

and at that time,
he held this delightfully  frivolous black and white masquerade ball

and it was called

The Party Of The Century

hmmmm
that veiled and beflowered looking headpiece is giving me ideas

this book has the full story
( has anyone read this ? )

Tallulah Bankhead ...

Sinatra and Farrow ...

Truman Capote himself ...

Here's to a lovely weekend
full of
frivolous celebration !!!

Cheers,
